Fanáticas confesas de Twin Peaks y de la obra de David Lynch, las chicas de Casablock admitimos que cualquier excusa es buena para dedicarle un post a esta serie que nos tuvo atrapadas, de principio a fin, con su galería de bizarros y entrañables personajes. La excusa en esta oportunidad es la reciente inauguración de la muestra colectiva de arte Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me en la Galería Copro de Santa Mónica (California), en coincidencia con el 20° aniversario del film homónimo. Uno de los datos más interesantes de esta muestra es que incluye pinturas realizadas por el propio Lynch, además de las geniales fotografías de Richard Beymer (actor que interpreta a Ben Horne en la serie), tomadas durante el rodaje. Así es que, Twin Peaks' geeks que estén por ese lado del mundo, agenden: Copro Gallery, hasta el 12 de Mayo con entrada gratuita!

Self-confessed fans of Twin Peaks and the work of David Lynch, the girls of Casablock we admit that any reason is good to dedicate a post to this TV series that had caught us, from the beginning to the end, with his gallery of outrageous and deep characters. In this opportunity, the excuse is the recent opening of the collective exhibition Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me at Copro Gallery in Santa Monica, California, in coincidence with the 20° anniversary of the homonymous film. One of the most interesting things of this exhibition is that it includes paintings made by Lynch, as well as Richard Beymer's brilliant photographies (actor who plays the role of Ben Horne in the series), taken during the filming. So, Twin Peaks' geeks that are near this side of the world, take note: Copro Gallery, until May 12, free admission!

To start the weekend, I invite you to take a walk along Guanajuato, a fantastic and romantic place in Mexico. Their viceregal buildings, squares full of trees and multicolored houses are some of the reasons why the city was declared UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988.

Luces de neón

Neón, who's afraid of red, yellow and blue? es la primera gran exposición internacional que tiene como protagonista al neón y que busca mostrar su presencia en el arte desde los años 40 hasta la actualidad. Entre los pioneros, destaca Gyula Kosice, artista naturalizado argentino de origen eslovaco, que utilizó por primera vez el neón en una obra de arte llamada Estructura Lumínica Madi.

Arte del color y de la luz, la muestra que se exhibe en La Maison Rouge de París, nos invita a descubrir una multiplicidad de experimentaciones hechas con el neón, pasando por los usos urbanos y publicitarios, hasta su incorporación en el arte.

Neon, who's afraid of red, yellow and blue? is the first major international exhibition of neon art from the 1940s to the present days. Among the pioneers, stands out Gyula Kosice, Slovak-born artist naturalized Argentine, who used the neon, for the first time, in a work of art called Luminous Madi Structure. 
Art of color and light, the exhibition presented at La Maison Rouge of Paris, invites us to discover a multiplicity of experimentations done with neon, going from urban and advertising uses, to his incorporation in art.

El domingo pasado, bajo el lema ¡DESPERTATE!, se celebró el Día de la Tierra en El Planetario de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Toda la comunidad estuvo invitada a participar de una jornada de concientización por el desarrollo sostenible, con charlas, bicicleteada, talleres para niños, una feria de consumo responsable y, para el cierre del evento, la proyección en pantalla gigante de Waste Land, la película más impactante del Green Film Fest 2011.

Last Sunday, under the slogan WAKE UP!, it was celebrated the Earth Day in the Planetarium of Buenos Aires. The whole community was invited to be part of a consciousness-raising day for the sustainable development, with workshops, bike rides, kids workshops, a fair of responsible consumption and, for the closing event, the screening on big screen of Waste Land, the most stunning movie of the Green Film Fest 2011.

El sábado pasado el día estuvo realmente hermoso así que salí a caminar, como de costumbre, acompañada de mi cámara y mi perra, pero esta vez, con un objetivo concreto: recorrer las calles de San Telmo y registrar todas las obras posibles de arte urbano. Hoy quiero compartirlas con ustedes y, de esta forma, también me gustaría homenajear a los artistas que nos regalan desinteresadamente sus graffities y murales que embellecen nuestras calles. 

Lamentablemente, muchas veces este arte pasa desapercibido a nuestra mirada. ¡Abramos los ojos y observemos cuánto arte tenemos a nuestro alrededor!

Last Saturday it was a really beautiful day so I went out for a walk, with my camera and my dog, as usual, but this time, with a fixed aim: to go round San Telmo's streets and photographe all the works of urban art. Today I want to share them with you and, by this way, I would also like to honor the urban artists who give us unselfishly their graffities and murals to improve the appearance of our streets. 

Unfortunately, this art often goes unnoticed to our look. Let's open our eyes and look at the art around us!

The Little Groom x Louis Vuitton

Para celebrar la apertura de las tiendas Louis Vuitton en Roma, Seúl y Singapur, la marca de lujo realizó una serie de cortos que tienen como protagonista a Little Groom, un pequeño personaje que nos invita a viajar por la belleza y el encanto de cada ciudad. Producidos por el estudio francés Maneki Lab, los videos han sido dirigidos por Régis Raffin, con animación de Yoshimichi Tamura (Zarafa) y decorados de Sébastien des Kerascoët.

En el caso particular de Roma, la tienda fue apodada Roma Etoile, en homenaje a la sala de cine más antigua de Roma, en donde la marca ha instalado su boutique. Restaurada por el arquitecto Peter Marino, la maison Louis Vuitton se propuso conservar el ambiente cinematográfico italiano, instalando espacios dedicados a la historia del cine italiano y los íconos romanos, así como una sala de cine en donde proyectarán películas y documentales, como resultado de un acuerdo entre la marca y la Scuola Nazionale di Cinema del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.

Un mundo de fantasía, con el inigualable toque de sofisticación Vuitton.

To celebrate the opening of Louis Vuitton stores in Rome, Seoul and Singapore, the luxury brand made a series of short films that has Little Groom as main character, a small figure that invites us to travel through the beauty and the charm of every city. Produced by the French studio Maneki Lab, the videos were directed by Régis Raffin, with Yoshimichi Tamura's animation (Zarafa) and Sébastien des Kerascoët's décorations.

In the case of Rome, the store has been named Rome Etoile, in honor to the oldest cinema in Rome, where the brand has installed his boutique. Restored by the architect Peter Marino, the maison Louis Vuitton proposed to preserve the Italian cinematographic environment, installing different spaces dedicated to the history of Italian cinema and Roman icons, as well as a cinema where they will screen movies and documentaries, as result of an agreement between the brand and the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema del Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.

A world of fantasy, with the incomparable Vuitton touch of sophistication.

En una casona con más de un siglo de antigüedad, inauguró Mundo Chocolate, un espacio multisensorial en el que, a través de cursos, talleres y catas, puedes conocer la historia, recetas y admirar el arte en torno al alimento de los dioses. El recorrido lo cierra una chocolatería, donde puedes degustar todo tipo de bebidas y platillos elaborados, obvio, a base de chocolate.

In a big house, with more than one century old, it was inaugurated Mundo Chocolate, a multisensory place where you can discover history, recipes and admire the art of the food of the gods, through courses, workshops and tastings. Kraftwerk: retrospectiva en el MoMA

Durante 8 noches consecutivas, del 10 al 17 de abril, el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York presentó una obra de arte nunca antes vista: una exploración cronológica de los experimentos acústicos y visuales del grupo alemán Kraftwerk. Cada presentación se centró en un concierto en vivo, con proyecciones en 3D, que hicieron vivir una experiencia sensorial fuera de lo común, resaltando el estatus vanguardista del grupo.

40 años después de su debut, el cuarteto alemán aún sigue revolucionando la escena musical.

Over eight consecutive nights from April 10 to 17, the Museum of Modern Art of New York presented a work of art never seen before: a chronological exploration of sonic and visual experiments of German group Kraftwerk. Each show consisted of a live performance, with 3D projections, that was a sensory experience who brought to the memory the avant-garde status of the group. 

40 years after his début, the German quartet is still revolutionizing the musical scene.

Holi, Festival de Colores

Holi, o Festival de Colores, es una fiesta pagana que se celebra en la India y en varios países con una importante población hindú, al llegar la primavera, y durante la cual sus participantes se divierten arrojándose polvos y aguas de colores unos a otros.

Este año, un equipo de Variable, compañía audovisual con base en Nueva York, participó del festejo y plasmó su espíritu y escencia en el video que compartimos hoy en Casablock.

Sus autores afirman que el objetivo de este video es "ayudar a los espectadores a conocer y valorar la belleza de la vida y la cultura que existe en nuestro mundo". Sin duda, han hecho un buen trabajo.

Holi, or Festival of Colors, is a pagan festival celebrated at the beginning of the spring season in India and different countries with large Indic populations, and where the participants play throwing themselves colored powders and waters.
This year, a team of Variable, audiovisual company based in New York, took part of the festival and registered his spirit and escencia in the video that we share today at Casablock.
His authors say that the goal of this film is " to help viewers further appreciate and take notice of the beauty in life & culture that lies within our world". Definitely, they've done a really good work.
